Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla Inc., issued an email to “Everybody” at his electric-car firm late Tuesday, expanding on a previous communication to executive staff about the need to be in the office. Employees at a number of organizations have revolted against “RTO” practices and long commutes because they are accustomed to working from home or with hybrid arrangements.
“Everyone at Tesla is required to spend a minimum of 40 hours in the office per week,” Musk wrote in an email titled “To be super clear.” “Moreover, the office must be where your actual colleagues are located, not some remote pseudo office. If you don’t show up, we will assume you have resigned.”
“The more senior you are, the more visible must be your presence,” Musk wrote. “That is why I lived in the factory so much — so that those on the line could see me working alongside them. If I had not done that, Tesla would long ago have gone bankrupt.”
Musk had previously sent an email to Tesla executives stating that they must work in “a primary Tesla office, not a remote branch office unrelated to the job tasks, such as being responsible for Fremont manufacturing human relations but having your office in another state.”
Musk has complimented Tesla China staff for “burning the 3 a.m. oil” in recent weeks, while claiming that Americans are “trying to avoid going to work at all.”
So Americans are ‘shocked’ that they have to actually come to work? Yes, maybe the way he put it was a bit harsh but get over it. It’s time to come into work. He’s paying you, he wants you to show up so suck it up and come into work.
The liberal left is sharing Elon’s comments all over social media like he was an outrageous tyrant.
Let’s put it this way. He’s paying for buildings, lights, power and all other costs it takes to run buildings and offices. All this while people are working from home and enjoying life as though each day is a day off. He now wants you to come in and work. What’s the problem.
Gen Z and Millennials are so pampered. They want things done their way. They want to be politely begged to show up for work. They need this done on their terms and when they’re good and ready to do so. AND, if they feel that they have the right to stay home and work; they should have that option.
People, it’s time to work again. Get up, take a shower and go to work.
