City officials unveiled more than an hour of video recordings on Friday night, depicting the fatal confrontation between Tyre Nichols and the Memphis police officers which occurred earlier this month. The footage is composed of three body camera videos and one overhead surveillance video.
The five officers involved have been dismissed and are now facing second-degree murder charges after the internal investigation. In response to the video release, two Shelby County Sheriff’s Office deputies were suspended pending an investigation, as declared by Sheriff Floyd Bonner Jr. in his statement. The video begins at 8:24 p.m. CT, when the officers initially stopped Nichols, and ends at 9:02 p.m. CT when an ambulance arrives.
